Virgin of Montserrat
La Mare de Déu de Montserrat, commonly known as “La Moreneta”, is a late 12th-century Romanesque sculpture carved in wood.
Montserrat has been a holy site for many centuries. The first reference dates back to 1239, and every 27th of April sees the celebration of the Festival of La Mare de Déu de Montserrat, who is the patron saint of Catalonia.
Basilica of Montserrat
The Basilica, is made up of different architectural styles ranging from Gothic to the Renaissance.
In the Monastery, there is a community of Benedictine monks who follow the Rule of Saint Benedict and whose main objective is maintaining the mountain of Montserrat and the Sanctuary as a place for meeting and prayer.

The Escolania is a religious and musical institution character with one of the oldest boys’ choir in Europe with documents relating to its existence that date back to the 14th century.
